2024 AGC Grant Awarded Recipients
–
Cancer Pathways- $300 for planters, soil plants for Camp Sparkle for children impacted by cancer.
Environmental Club of Spokane Falls Community College – $2000 for raised beds, irrigation, seeds and plants.
Mission Meadows Community Gardwn – $7500 for materials to build a platform for a shade structure to hold classes.
Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church – $1200 for soil, compost hoses, other supplies, and shed for their community garden.
Ash Street Snk’ want qtn Community Garden – $900 for a shed for the community garden.
Spokane – Jilin Sister City Society – $3000 for bench materials and a portion of the signage.
Spokane Parks and Recreation – Restoration of historic dry-stacked rock wall at Manito Park’s Rose Hill.
2023
2023 AGC Grant Awarded Recipients
#1 – Boy Scout/Eagle Scout Candidate Kyle Mills was awarded $880.51 to install herb garden boxes and paver walkway at St. John’s Cathedral in the shape of a cross. This would benefit the kitchen/food programs and the community garden residents.
#2 – Browne’s Additional Garden Group – a request for plant materials for the flower beds at Cannon Circle, Sunset Island. $390
#3 – City of Spokane Parks and Recreation – Trail for the blind at the Finch Arboretum. Over time the original trail has become overgrown and with tree roots, needs to be relocated. $4,887
#4 – Franklin Elementary Garden – Garden beds, soil, plants and seeds. At it’s May meeting, Franklin reported on the outstanding success of its raised school garden beds, funded last year by AGC. A student/faculty/parent gardening club has been created and is active over the summer, with students being able to bring produce home. An educational curriculum about growing food has also resulted from this. $2,500
#5 – Friends of Moore Turner Heritage Gardens – bench at upper level. . $2,800
#6 – St. John’s Community Garden – request for a composter. $300
#7 – YMCA of the Inland Northwest – Greenhouse/educational program needs supplies to operate greenhouse. $5,025

2022
2022 AGC Grant Awarded Recipients
St. John’s Community Garden – $510 for a tool shed
Spokane Community Garden Alliance – initial recommendation of $1763 for materials to expand community garden at Polly Judd Park and Vinegar Flats.
Update on material costs to add to the above: For the shed: $1,495.
Total for these two: $3258
Franklin Elementary Garden program – $2,125 for a school garden for educational purposes and growing food and flowers for the kids
Sprague Union District – $500 for plants contingent on them finding volunteers to plant them.
Spokane -Jecheon Sister City garden – $3,000 A return grant from a recipient of some years ago which wasn’t at the stage of paying for materials. They are now able to install artwork Sotdae at Riverfront Park’s Sister’s city garden.
Eden Community Gardens – $3,000 for a wooden gazebo to provide shade for the gardeners, a place for programs and fellowship in their community garden.

2021 AGC Grant Awarded Recipients
Spokane Community Center – Project: Build a new community garden at Thornton Murphy Park (100- 4×8 raised beds).
Spokane Community Garden Alliance – Project: Grow food, create access, and feed the hungry.
YWCA Spokane Alternatives to Domestic Violence Safe Shelter – Project: Provide a safe place for women and children fleeing domestic
violence.
Friends of Coeur d’Alene Park – Project: A storm destroyed an antique urn. Will fill with plantings for unique beauty to be enjoyed by visitors
in the park.
Spokane Parks Gaiser Conservatory, Manito Park – Project: Replace “energy” curtain inside the greenhouses which supply plants and support the Conservatory. Provide shade in the summer and heat-keeping blanket in the winter.

Spokane Montessori School – Project: Community Garden Enhancements Herb Garden, tools, rain barrel, bunny hutch, butterfly garden, compost.
Spokane Parks and Recreation – Project: Rose Garden Restoration- Restore Rose Hill wall.
TEAM Grant – Project: Grant Garden Enhancements tools, seeds/plants, soil amendments, etc.
Woman’s Club Garden Alliance – Project: Transitional Housing Garden Improvement – 4 raised beds, plants, mulch/amendments.
Spokane YWCA – Project: Seed-to-table Program – Plants/seed, tools, compost, hose. storage box, bird feeder.

Eden Community Gardens – Project: Materials to beautify entrance of Eden Gardens with arbor.
Excelsior Youth Center – Project: Create certified arboretum. Purchase trees and identification signs for public information and education.
Sister Cities Association of Spokane – Project: Rehabilitate underutilized portion of Riverfront Park .
Spokane Woman’s Club Community Garden Alliance – Project: Finch Arboretum Community Gardens, grow enough produce for deliveries of fresh fruits and vegetables for ten residents of a local transitional housing facility.
Transitions New Leaf Bakery & Cafe – Project: Materials to maintain 4 raised beds & greenhouse to grow vegetables and herbs for the kitchen.
YMCA of the Inland Northwest – Project: Build Raised bed gardens for vegetables & fruits grown in garden will be incorporated into meals and snacks for children at the center.
