Club Meetings

Membership Meetings

Join us and learn about the newest happenings in and around the Spokane Gardening Community!  These meetings are educational, fun and rewarding. You can make new friends, learn about new garden techniques, find opportunities to assist in community programs, and support the growing membership of AGC. A lunch spread, snacks, coffee, and tea are provided. Door prizes will be given.

1702 South Grand Boulevard, Spokane. Members and interested community members welcome!
The meeting room is located off Tekoa Street and is across from the Gaiser Conservatory. Meeting are held from 10 to 12, with social time from 10 to 10:15.

Presentations By:

Mari Bartoo Jacobson and Mary Bishop will speak about the second year of progress with the Snk’ want qtn’ Community Garden and fill us in on how students at the Salish School and Shadle High School have been involved. Mary is a Permaculture Design Consultant and Mari is a local neighbor on the Steering Committee.

Mason bees are the most efficient pollinators, especially in early spring. Native beekeeper Jennifer Ogden will provide a hands-on opportunity to harvest cocoons and learn how to protect mason bees over the winter and release them into your garden.  Cocoons and supplies provided free of charge.

Board Members and Committee Chairs will also be there to uplift you with the present and future goals of AGC.

Presentations By:

Grant Recipient Kate Burke, Executive Director of DBA River City Youth Ops (Project Hope). Kate will speak about the new irrigation system installed at their main garden in Spokane’s West Central Neighborhood and discuss why the site is an important part of their youth agriculture internship program. Join us to learn about their many partnerships.

Carolyn Gallon will also teach attendees how to raise red worms for natural/organic fertilizer. Carolyn, an avid gardener, lived and worked for many years in South Africa as a teacher. She also given lectures at several Herb Society Chapters in Richmond, VA and several Botanical Gardens, schools, and garden clubs in Washington DC.

Presentation By:

The Spokane Falls Community College Environmental Club, under the leadership of Dr. Michelle Pearson, will discuss the year-round growing spaces they’re using to feed students and teach gardening skills.

Location:

Manito Meeting Room East of the Conservatory. Please arrive 10 minutes early to get signed in. We will start promptly at 10am. Coffee, tea and treats will be furnished. Bring a friend!
